Time to get moving on Professional Unity

The NUT Professional Unity Committee met yesterday and discussed how to take forward our campaign to bring together all the teachers' unions and to create a new Union fit for the 21st century.  The committee discussed a range of issues and positive initiatives, including a conference in the new year.

There seems a real chance of organising a conference jointly with another union or unions early in the new year and the committee discussed the possible content of this conference.  It was hoped that this may be the first of a series of regional conferences, as outlined in the Professional Unity motion adopted by Annual Conference 2014.

The committee also agreed that from now on it would meet every cycle (approximately monthly) in order to further the aim of Professional Unity.
